Balance is the key to wellness. This session will support educators in achieving a state of well-being through a holistic exploration of the dimensions of wellness. Participants will have the opportunity to reflect on how each dimension of wellness influences their overall well-being by using the wellness wheel. While all dimensions are interconnected and important, this session will focus on providing additional learning to support the physical dimension (caring for your body now and to stay healthy in the future).
Step into the ADHD classroom experience through the eyes of someone who's lived it from both sides of the desk. This dynamic presentation weaves together cutting-edge research, personal memoir, and insights from experts to give educators an authentic understanding of neurodivergent learners. You'll discover what it really feels like to navigate school with ADHD, explore current symptoms and manifestations, and walk away with a practical toolkit of research-backed strategies you can implement immediately. Whether you're supporting one student or many, this session transforms abstract concepts into concrete actions, helping you create classroom environments where every neurodivergent learner can thrive.
In this session, we will take a journey through history looking at how games and computational thinking have been best friends. You will learn how games—from ancient Egyptian board games to today's digital adventures—naturally teach kids to think like programmers without them even realizing it. We'll see how the strategy in chess, the resource management in Oregon Trail, and the building in Minecraft all develop the same brain muscles used in coding and computer science. Through real classroom stories and practical examples, you'll walk away with fresh ideas on how to use games (both digital and unplugged) to get your students thinking computationally while they're having fun. No technical background needed—just bring your curiosity about how play can be a powerful on-ramp to computer science thinking!
